TH는 신경 전달 물질인 도파민의 합성에 관여하는 속도 제한 효소 입니다. 

그런 다음 도파민을 노르 에피네프린 (노르아드레날린)과 에피네프린 (아드레날린)과 같은 다른 카테콜아민으로 전환시킬 수 있습니다. 

갑상선 콜로이드 속에 있는 갑상선 호르몬 인 triiodothyronine(T3)과 thyroxine(T4)도 티로신에서 유래합니다.
